Pumpkin
Halloween is just around the corner.
A pumpkin has come to the garden. It is an enormous pumpkin called John Rees.
– Come here, John Rees, I want to carve you, says Saint David in a frightening tone.
Dave the cat looks at Jeff her sister.
– It sounds worse, somehow, with the pumpkin having a name, says Dave.
– We had a goose for Christmas dinner once, remember, and you called him Eric, says Jeff.
– Yes, says Dave wistfully. – Eric was a good boy.
