Staying
The cats have put on raincoats so that they can persuade the owner of the cat hotel that they are the owners of Samuel Beckett, and collect him.
They look ridiculous.
Daf the cat knocks on the door. The owner of the cat hotel answers.
– We have come to fetch Samuel Beckett, said Daf formally. – We are his owners.
The cats hear the author’s voice from one of the rooms.
– I’m staying here, he says. – I like tight spaces. And the food is fab.
– There is nothing to be done, says Jeff to Dave.
– Nothing to be done, agrees Dave.
